Throughout the course of 2017, the focus of my work became completely enveloped by food. Whether it be viewed as an art form, an ailment, a social issue, or a basic need, it provokes multidimensional conversations and ideas.
Dinner for None is an ongoing series capturing environments and objects associated with the act of consumption. Based off of psychological affects tied to eating disorders, the scenes were created to mimic feelings of solitude and despair. Using lighting as a tool, the otherwise inviting places become distorted and abstract.
Desert is a pitch book of documentary photographs, capturing the realities of food deserts in the many forms that they present themselves. Whether it be an apparent abundance of food, or the lines of run down restaurants haunting cities, the evidence is clear. Important to the present time, these images are meant to open the eyes of those unaware of the issue, in order to make change. The booklets are easily distributed, therefore efficient in relaying information to local businesses that may put it to good use.
